Foley says ACPS has also been able to cut down bus routes from 640 to 577. He says these efforts still aren't enough.
"We are looking at, if we have to, more drastic measures," he said.
Such measures could include expanding school walking zones.
"So, instead of half a mile, it could be up to a mile for elementary kids, and up to a mile and a half for secondary kids," explained Foley.
Foley says no decisions have been finalized yet but the division plans to analyze the zones to make sure it's safe enough for students.
