A Union Street resident’s brand new car was stolen within hours of delivery, police said.
On Friday, Nov. 12, the resident reported that his 2022 BMW X5 was stolen from his driveway soon after the car was delivered to his home, according to police.
The vehicle was parked in the driveway, with another vehicle parked behind it. Whomever took the car drove over the lawn to exit, and the car was last seen by a neighbor traveling east on Union Street, police said.

Burglary
Wednesday, Nov. 10 — An occupant of a Bloomfield Avenue office building reported that she observed an unknown male inside the building. When she confronted him, the man asked where the bathroom was located and inquired if someone named “Lucy” was working. When the man left, the woman observed a locked combination safe had been tampered with. The man was described as wearing a black face mask, a black New York Yankees straight brim baseball cap with the sticker still attached to the brim, a maroon and black Deadpool jacket with the Deadpool logo on the left side chest, dark-colored pants and tan work boots.

Thursday, Nov. 11 — A man arriving at his Bloomfield Avenue office at 8:30 a.m. reported discovering a damaged open door and damaged door lock. Entry into the office appeared to have been made but nothing was reported missing at the time.
Theft
Thursday, Nov. 11 — A Bloomfield Avenue resident reported that a package containing approximately $130 worth of beauty products that had been delivered to her building was stolen.
Shoplifting
Wednesday, Nov. 10 — A 50-year-old, Newark man was arrested and charged with shoplifting after employees at CVS Pharmacy on Bloomfield Avenue observed him remove body wash and lotions from the store without making payment.
