In July 2019 the Dill family lost their youngest son, Oliver Dill, after accidently leaving him unattended in the back seat of a hot car.
Shortly after his passing his parents created a foundation called Be Kind for Ollie. A Non-profit organization that brings awareness to hot car death.
Oliver's mother, Jamie Dill, said she wanted to do something to honor him.
"We wanted to be able to do something for Olly, and we wanted to help prevent more deaths by hot car as possible," said Dill.
As the 2 year anniversary of his passing approaches, the dill's want to inform the community of the dangers of the accident.
"Hot car deaths are totally indiscriminately, so that's why it is important to, don't make that mistake of thinking it cant happen to you because its, its a mistake you can't recover from," said Andrew Dill.
As apart of the foundation, the family advocates for the Federal Hot Cars Act.
An Act dedicated to prevent these deaths from happening by requiring cars to have a chip that can detect a child in the backseat once the engine is shut off.
"It's relatively an inexpensive thing to install, and that's what were pushing for with the hot cars act," said Andrew Dill.
An unexpected loss, the dill's are using this devastating experience to share their story and bring awareness to others.
"This is a dangerous thing, that you need to develop a routine to check your car, and there's been a lot of public education around that but it just not enough." said Andrew Dill.
