LASALLE COUNTY (Heart of Illinois ABC) – Three children and a driver suffered minor injuries when their school bus went into a ditch and rolled on its side Thursday morning in Ottawa.
It was a Deer Park School District bus involved in the accident that happened at 7 a.m. on 1251st Road.
The three students and driver were the only people on the bus, according to a news release from Superintendent Rolf Sivertsen.
All the occupants were taken to OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa. he children were released and sent home. The superintendent expected the driver would also be released.
Sivertsen noted the district provides bus evacuation training for students and staff.
“The training proved to be invaluable as the students exited the bus exactly as the training stipulated,” Sivertsen said in the news release.
