JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A child was injured early Sunday morning after someone fired around 20 shots into a car that was stopped at a red light on the Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO said the young girl was a passenger in a car that was stopped at a red light around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Dunn Avenue and Duval Road.
The victims told police they were stopped at the light when the suspect’s car pulled in front of them and the suspect got out with a gun. The suspect then fired approximately 20 shots at the victim’s vehicle and took off, JSO said.
JFRD transported the girl to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
JSO did not say if the driver was injured or not.
JSO’s Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded and will conduct the investigation.
JSO said as of right now there is no other information available, including a description of the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact JSO by phone at 904-630-0500, email at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org or CrimeStoppers at 866-845-tips.
