Community members lined up in front of a 45-foot-long bus idling along Allston Way in Berkeley on Tuesday afternoon to be tested for the COVID-19 virus. With four walk-up stations, the BusTest Express lets health care workers deliver self-swab tests to patients through window kiosks.
The custom-designed bus includes HEPA filters to protect medical staff and sanitation systems, along with electricity, running water and Wi-Fi. Storer Coachways, the company that developed the mobile testing bus, is working to provide vaccinations with their coaches as well.
