Pasadena will start charging to ride the bus on April 12 - The Pasadena Star-News

rintihoh.blogspot.com

The free rides are over for Pasadena bus goers, as the city announced it will start collecting fares again on Monday, April 12, more than a year after the coronavirus pandemic disrupted virtually everything, including bus fares.

The city says they stopped collecting those fees to ensure driver and rider safety, but with low case counts and new driver barriers, riders will have to pay to use the city’s public transit.

Fees will be the same as they were before the pandemic.

Anyone who had an active 30-day pass that was interrupted by the March 16, 2020 Stay at Home order will get a credit on their TAP card free of charge, according to a city press release on Monday, April 5.

To get the credit, you need to use the TAP card on a Pasadena transit bus within 60 days of April 12; it should be automatically applied to your card.

Even though the pandemic situation is improving, all of the coronavirus-related safety features they’ve installed over the past year will stay in place. That includes limiting the number of riders at any given time; requiring everyone to wear a mask; hand sanitizers will be on board; and nightly floor-to-ceiling disinfections.
