The Honda and Acura brands sold nearly 177,000 vehicles combined in the U.S. last month, with the SUV lineup across both brands accounting for 60% of its sales, Honda said. Mazda sold more than 42,000 vehicles to break a record it set in March 1994, the company said. ADRs closed 0.6% lower at $139.14.
Toyota Motor Corp.'s US sales in May rose 47% from a year earlier, when pandemic-related restrictions sapped car sales. The auto maker notched record monthly sales for the C-HR small SUV and a May record for light trucks overall, which includes both SUVs and pickup trucks. Toyota said sales of alternative-powered vehicles, including the Corolla Hybrid and Mirai fuel-cell car, more than tripled to around 60,000 vehicles, nearly a quarter of overall sales.
