ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — Four people were taken to a hospital after a Metrobus hit an SUV, setting off a chain reaction of crashes in Maryland on Sunday afternoon, police said
Montgomery County police said the crash happened when the bus driver lost control on Rockville Pike and swerved onto Congressional Lane, causing a chain reaction of crashes, news outlets reported. Police spokeswoman Shiera Goff said that the bus, which had no passengers, struck a Honda Passport and landed on top of the Passport. That crash and multiple subsequent collisions involved the bus and four other vehicles, she said.
The four people injured in the crashes included one person who was in serious condition with potentially life-threatening injuries, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer.
No one was immediately charged.
