GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Two people were shot early Monday, Oct. 19, while sitting in a parked car, Grand Rapids police said.
The injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
The shooting happened around 4:10 a.m. on Umatilla Street SE, east of Madison Avenue. The shots were fired into the car from an unknown location, police said.
The driver, a 24-year-old man, was shot in the arm. His passenger, a 20-year-old woman, has struck in the head. They drove to a Grand Rapids fire station at 1734 S. Division Avenue for help.
The shooting victims were taken to Mercy Health Saint Mary’s hospital.
Police found the shooting scene on Umatilla and recovered multiple casings.
