BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- Auto theft: Chagrin Boulevard

At 11:55 a.m. Oct. 22, it was reported that a woman parked her car in the lot of Crestmont Cadillac, 26000 Chagrin Blvd., gained access to a car belonging to the dealership, and drove away in the dealership’s car. It is not known if someone left the key in the car or if someone gave it to her.

The woman took the car at about 9 a.m. She returned with the vehicle at about 12:50 p.m. The woman, 36, of Maple Heights, is believed to have done something similar on a prior occasion in another city. Police noted that she may have mental issues. Charges have yet to be filed.

Failure to maintain physical control: Richmond Road

At 12:25 a.m. Oct. 21, a passerby reported seeing a man in a disabled vehicle on the road in the vicinity of Richmond Road and Chagrin Boulevard. Police checked on the man and found that he was intoxicated. When officers asked the man to get out of his car, he stumbled about.

Police charged the man, 49, of Lyndhurst, with failure to maintain physical control of a motor vehicle.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 3:05 p.m. Oct. 22, police arrested a Cleveland boy, 14, for stealing merchandise valued at $265.46 from Dillard’s at Beachwood Place mall, 26300 Cedar Road. The boy was charged with theft.

The boy had been accompanied by his sister, a Cleveland woman, 26, but the woman left her brother behind and left the mall, avoiding arrest. The woman is being sought for theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 6:50 p.m. Oct. 22, police arrested a Beachwood man, 26, for stealing money from, and damaging the cash register of the store Natural Glow at Beachwood Place. The man stole $163, but a store employee pointed out the suspect to police while he was still in the mall.

The man was arrested and charged with theft and criminal damaging.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 3:55 p.m. Oct. 22, a Cleveland man, 27, was arrested for stealing gods worth $77 from the kiosk Fad Friendzies at Beachwood Place. The man stole a chain from the kiosk and underwear from another store. He was charged with theft and receiving stolen property.

OVI: I-271

At 3:40 p.m. Oct. 23, police arrested a Cleveland man, 68, for drunk driving. The man was driving southbound on I-271 when his car crossed each of the freeway’s lanes before striking the bridge under Chagrin Boulevard. The car then headed back into traffic and struck a couple of other cars. No one was injured.

The man was further charged with having a blood-alcohol content of greater than .17, and failure to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle.
