Three men are dead following a fiery crash Friday morning in Nessel Township, according to Chisago County authorities.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the crash about 7:50 a.m. near Rush Point Drive and Clover Trail.
A passenger car and a transport bus had collided, and both vehicles were engulfed in flames.
Three occupants in the car died at the scene. Authorities have not released the names of the victims, but said they were all adults from the St. Paul area. No details about the bus, its operator and possible passengers was immediately disclosed.
Speed appears to be a contributing factor, authorities said, as the investigation continues.
The crash closed County Road 7/Rush Point Drive between Evergreen Avenue and Cedarcrest Trail for several hours.
Assisting on scene were the Rush City Fire Department, Braham Fire Department, Lakes Regions EMS, the Chisago County Highway Department, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
