COLONIE — A town man trying to dislodge his car from a median in a pharmacy parking lot was killed when the vehicle rolled and pinned him to a building Friday, Colonie police said.

Police said they were called to 1097 Loudon Road at 2:44 p.m. First responders arrived to find the car had been moved but the man was in cardiac arrest due to trauma. The man, Dirome Williamson Jr., 45, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, police said.

According to police, Williamson was driving the 2012 Kia through the lot of the Caring Wellness Pharmacy when he got it stuck on a small traffic island. All four occupants left the car to try to push it off the island.

At some point, Williamson moved around behind the car, which then dislodged and began to roll backwards down an incline.  Williamson stumbled and was pinned between the car and the pharmacy. The other passengers and witnesses were able to move the car before rescue crews arrived. No one else was injured.

Boght Fire Department responded as did Colonie EMS. One lane of Loudon Road northbound was closed for approximately 45 minutes.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Colonie Police Traffic Division at 518 782-2600.
