Attempted burglary, Lorain Road
On Feb. 10 a resident reported a man he knows was attempting to break into his residence with a golf club and making threatening statements. The man was also the subject of a previous criminal damaging complaint at the same location and was upset over a disagreement with the resident, who is the property manager. When officers arrived they found evidence of a forced entry and determined the man had left to his residence, which was also on the property. Officers contacted the man at his residence and eventually persuaded him to exit his residence. The 49-year-old Fairview Park resident was arrested.

Drunken driving, Brookpark Road
On Feb. 11 an officer on patrol saw a car with a flat tire traveling eastbound. The officer activated the overhead emergency lights and sirens, however the driver was slow to stop and struck the curb before stopping. After stopping the car, it was later determined that Westlake police had been looking for the car earlier in the evening for traveling the wrong way on Interstate 90. While talking with the driver, the officers observed signs of intoxication and the driver failed field sobriety tests. The 52-year-old Berea man was arrested.
Drunken driving, West 220th Street
On Feb. 13 a car was reported stopped on the sidewalk in front of a residence. When officers arrived they found a man passed out behind the wheel. The car was running and in neutral gear and the doors were locked. Several attempts to wake the man were unsuccessful and an ambulance was requested. Officers were able to unlock the car door with an entry tool and put the car in park and shut off the engine. An open beer can was found in the car. The man finally woke up and was incoherent. The man declined medical attention and failed field sobriety tests. The 37-year-old Fairview Park resident was arrested.
