Two people are accused by police of boarding a Jeannette school bus, with one of them attacking the driver, according to court papers.
Aaron Blocker Jr., 40, of Jeannette, is wanted on an arrest warrant. He is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, unauthorized school bus entry and harassment. Lacy L. Kapp, 36, of Jeannette, is charged with unauthorized school bus entry, a misdemeanor.
Police were called at 5:30 p.m. April 14 to the intersection of Clay Avenue and South Seventh Street for a report of a school bus driver being assaulted. The driver told investigators that he was making a stop at the intersection when he saw a woman yelling at him before approaching the bus and then getting on it.
The woman, later identified as Kapp, exited the bus and gestured to a man who boarded the bus and punched the driver in the head several times, according to court papers. Students aboard safely exited during the incident. Both suspects left in a car with four children.
Police said the driver was bleeding from a head wound and complained of jaw pain. Investigators reviewed footage from surveillance cameras on the bus and along the street and determined the getaway vehicle belonged to Blocker, who matched the description of the suspect.
While police were examining the videos, Kapp came to the station and claimed her child was being assaulted on the bus and yelling for her, according to court papers. She told police she yelled at the driver and Blocker punched him “because he wasn’t doing anything” to help her child.
Video footage from inside the bus showed none of the children were being assaulted, according to court papers.
Charges were sent by summons to Kapp. She did not have an attorney listed in online court records and could not be reached. A June 24 preliminary hearing is set. She previously served probation terms on theft and receiving stolen property offenses. Blocker previously served time in a state prison on assault and drug charges, according to online court records.
