(KNSI) – Metro Bus riders in St. Cloud are required to wear a mask despite the state dropping its mask mandate.
The Federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) extended
mask requirements on all public transportation until September 13, including those already vaccinated.
The Federal requirements override State masking changes.
Metro Bus makes masks available to customers at the Metro Bus Transit Center in downtown St. Cloud and on Dial-a-Ride and ConneX buses.
TSA requirements were developed in consultation with the Department of Transportation and the CDC.
Passengers must wear cloth or filter masks covering their mouth and nose on a bus or in a facility for public transportation.
Not following the requirement is a violation of federal law.
Federal guidelines define a mask as a material covering the nose and mouth of the wearer, excluding face shields.
The Federal mandate allows for exceptions for children under the age of 2, people with disabilities who cannot safely wear a mask, for people who face a safety risk by wearing a mask for workplace health or job duty as determined by the relevant workplace safety guidelines or federal regulations.
Passengers must state they qualify for an exemption to ride without an appropriate mask.
