A school bus heading from a camp was involved in a crash in Reading, Massachusetts, on Friday, police said. Two children on board and the driver of another vehicle were hurt, but not badly.

The injured children -- who'd been coming from Camp Rice Moody, in a group of 18 girls ranging from 8 to 11 years old -- were treated at the scene and released to their parents, Reading police Chief David Clark said.

The driver of the car that collided with the bus was taken by ambulance to a hospital. No citations have been issued at this point in the investigation, police said.

"We're so happy that none of the children were injured beyond slight cuts and slight abrasions," said Reading fire Chief Gregory Burns, adding that the car driver "seemed to be alright as well."

The crash took place at Charles and Wakefield streets about 4 p.m., according to police. Both streets were closed during the investigation.

The school bus, from Lynn Public Schools, was seen off the road at the scene of the crash. Children were gathered on the grass nearby, while emergency vehicles were seen around the area.

Parents of the children on the bus were being reunited with their kids at the J.W. Killam Elementary School at 333 Charles Street, police said.
