Jake L. Palmer, 26, of Mayfield, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, along with misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation and endangering the welfare of a child, troopers said.
Troopers responded to the one-car accident on Beech Street in Mayfield at about 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. They arrived to find the vehicle partially in the ditch and the driver, Palmer, alongside it, state police said.
Three children had also been inside the car, troopers said. They were each later turned over to family.
The trooper spoke with Palmer, the trooper smelled alcohol on Palmer’s breath and saw signs of intoxication. He did not complete field sobriety tests and was arrested.
His blood alcohol content tested at the barracks at 0.11 percent.
Palmer was released to a sober third party to appear in court later.
