LEWISBURG – A bicyclist was killed Friday evening when he was hit by a car while riding just north of Lewisburg in Union County.
State police said Samuel F. Sauder, 77, of Lewisburg, died at nearby Evangelical Community Hospital.
He was riding his bicycle east in the 3000 block of Col. John Kelly Road in Kelly Twp. when he was struck from behind by a car driven by Lillya Y. Borisova, 28, of Milton, they said.
Sauder was not wearing a helmet but his bicycle was equipped with front and rear lights, they said.
It was determined a cell phone was not a contributing factor in the accident that occurred shortly after 7 p.m., troopers said.
