OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – Two people were hospitalized with moderate injuries after a car vs motorcycle crash, which police believe alcohol played a role in the crash.

Police responded to the crash at 4:13 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, on Lake Breeze Drive and Ottawa Beach Road in Park Township, according to a news release issued by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

A 31-year-old woman from Hamilton was westbound on Ottawa Beach Road in a Toyota Camry when she attempted to turn left onto Lake Breeze Drive and crashed into an eastbound Yamaha motorcycle, police said.

The motorcycle had a male driver, 51, of Grand Rapids and a female passenger, 50, of Caledonia, according to the release. The two were thrown from the motorcycle and sustained moderate injuries in the crash, police said.

The motorcycle driver was not wearing a helmet and the passenger was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. Both were transported to Holland Community Hospital to be treated for injuries from the crash.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the release.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the news release. It remains under investigation by police.

Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Park Township Fire Department and AMR paramedics.
