OVI: Lee Road
At 1:25 a.m. Oct. 18, police reported to the scene of a one-car crash in the vicinity of 3355 Lee Road. The driver, a Cleveland woman, 27, was found to be intoxicated.
In the car with the woman was her daughter, 9. The mother and daughter were treated for minor injuries. The woman refused to be tested for drunk driving. A relative was called to pick up the girl, and the woman was arrested on a charge of OVI.
OVI: Lee Road
At 12:10 a.m. Oct. 17, an officer stopped a car for a headlight violation at Lee Road and Shaker Boulevard. The driver, a Cleveland man, 49, was found to be intoxicated. The man failed field sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol content of .196, above the state minimum for drunk driving of .08. Police charged the man with OVI.
Theft: Chagrin Boulevard
At 3:20 p.m. Oct. 17, police were called to CVS/Pharmacy, where a man was seen shoplifting. The suspect left the store with $150 worth of merchandise. The store manager gave police a description of the suspect and officers located him nearby. Arrested and charged with theft was a Cleveland man, 68.
Aggravated menacing: Lee Road
At 2:15 p.m. Oct. 17, a man reported that his brother, 26, of Shaker Heights, had threatened him with a gun while the two argued. The suspect left the scene before police arrived at the home.
Fleeing and eluding: Chagrin Boulevard
At 11 p.m. Oct. 18, an officer spotted a car that was improperly registered and that was operating with defective equipment. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver did not initially pull over.
Police eventually stopped the car and charged the driver, a Cleveland man, 22, with obstructing official business, fleeing and eluding, and other traffic and equipment violations.
Domestic violence: Sudbury Road
At 11:15 a.m. Oct. 21, a Shaker Heights man, 46, reported that he had been assaulted by his former wife, 41. The couple has been separated for five years.
Theft: Avalon Road
At 1 p.m. Oct. 19, a woman, 24, and a man, 26, residents of the Avalon Apartments, 3430 Avalon Road, reported that someone had stolen their bicycles. The bikes were valued at $150 and $220.
Auto theft: Fairmount Boulevard
At 4:05 a.m. Oct. 20, a couple reported that, during the night, someone had stolen their car from their home’s driveway. In addition, the suspect rummaged through another car that had been parked in the driveway.
Improper handling of a firearm: Scottsdale Boulevard
At 11:05 a.m. Oct. 21, an officer watched as an SUV made an improper turn. A traffic stop was conducted and it was learned that the driver, a Cleveland man, 30, was wanted on a Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office felony warrant. The man was arrested on the warrant.
A search of his vehicle revealed a loaded handgun, which resulted in a charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Theft: Chagrin Boulevard
At 3:15 p.m. Oct. 21, police were called to Walgreens, 20405 Chagrin Blvd., where it had been reported that a man and woman had grabbed several candy items and ran out of the store without paying.
Officers located the suspects and charged them with theft. Charged were a man, 53, and a woman, 44, both of Cleveland.
Theft from auto: Scottsdale Boulevard
At 5:50 p.m. Oct. 21, a woman, 50, reported that someone had stolen several items from her unlocked car, parked on her property.
