ROMULUS, MI -- A man is dead after he crashed into a retention pond early Thursday morning at the at CSX Railyard on Pennsylvania Road near I-275. According to Fox 2 Detroit, several people were involved in attempting to steal six cars from the railyard with three of the car having already been recovered.
It’s unclear how the man crashed into the pond, but CSX Police believe the man lost control of the vehicle before crashing into the pond. Police say the brand new cars are typically parked in the railyard before they are shipped to dealers.
CSX Police are investigating the incident.
Earlier this summer, a contractor who worked at the railyard was charged with stealing nearly 2,000 key fobs that were for cars set to be delivered all over the U.S.
