Two Moreno Valley men were arrested following a car chase that ended with the suspects plowing into a Moreno Valley home on Saturday, Dec. 12, leaving seven people displaced, according to fire officials and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Higiniodaniel Suarez, 32, and Andre Mitchell, 29, were taken into custody and transported to the Riverside University Health Systems Hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained during the collision, the Sheriff’s Department said in a Sunday statement.

Suarez was held on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and felony evading, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Mitchell was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, being under the influence of a controlled substance and probation violation.

Moreno Valley Station deputies shortly before 2 p.m. spotted a suspected stolen vehicle in the 14000 block of Linnett Drive and pursued the driver when the motorist refused to stop, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

A short time later, the driver of the suspected stolen vehicle lost control and crashed into a home in the 23000 block of Vought Street, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

No other injuries were reported in the incident, and officials said they don’t yet know whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the incident.

The home was not occupied at the time of the crash, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The home was re-tagged as uninhabitable, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. The American Red Cross was assisting the five adults and two children left displaced.
