FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21)- One neighbor's ring door bell captured the moment a car crashed into a house on McClellan Street killing a woman.

The collision happened in the 5100 block of McClellan Street. Witnesses say the car was headed northbound when it struck some parked unoccupied cars. The driver lost control and then hit the home. Investigators believe speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

Desirae Boehme lives right across the street from the house and watched the incident happen from her bedroom window.

"I can hear the car speeding down the street and then after that all you hear is a smack so I hop up out of my bed I hurry up and I look down at the house and I can see that there has been damage to the house," Boehme said.

She said she ran back inside her house and grabbed her mother and sister and they all went outside to see what was happening.

"We're standing there looking around you know everybody was crying. It was something that I'd never forget last night was hard to sleep because of that," Boehme said.

Police say the car went through the wall, pinning 63-year-old Gwendolyn Martin underneath. She was asleep in her bed and died. Boheme and other witnesses saw a man and woman in the car run away from the scene.

"I was sad because I put myself in their shoes what if that was my mama sleeping in the bed just peacefully, minding her business sleeping and some junkies go in because they're not paying attention and doing stupid stuff and go crash into her house and kill her you know its sad," Boehme said.

Boehme says she's seen many drivers speed down that street. She says people do not yield and put other drivers and those who live in the area in danger.

"There's been many times where I'd be leaving to Kroger or wherever going down that way and there'd be people not paying attention there were multiple times that I almost got hit," Boehme said.

She said she's shared the videos with police in hopes it will help them find who was behind the wheel of the car, and provide some justice to Gwendolyn Martin's family.

Martin worked at the YMCA Central Branch for 26 years and was loved by so many. The YMCA posted a statement on their page in honor of Martin.

"For 26 years, Gwen Martin-Barbee has worked for the Central YMCA. She has been a key ingredient to building a family atmosphere at the branch. She knew how to get people to smile with her wry humor and fun disposition. She also was an excellent fundraiser who helped engage hundreds of members in the cause of the Y. She has been the matriarch of her family and a wise sage for generations to look up to."

They are also taking donations in Martin's honor. You can click here if you'd like to donate.
