JACKSON, MI -- No Jackson-area bus routes will run on Tuesday and Wednesday this week because of possible COVID-19 exposure, officials announced.
The Jackson Area Transportation Authority will run no city buses on Dec. 8 and Dec. 9, citing a closing of the transfer center at 127 W. Cortland St. because of a potential COVID-19 exposure, Community Relations Manager Chad Cumberworth said. Cleaning crews will disinfect the transfer center on those days.
Cumberworth declined to say if the potential coronavirus case was in a JATA employee or rider.
JATA’s Reserve-A-Ride program -- which allows residents to get curb-to-curb service in a ramp-equipped van within the city every day and throughout the county on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays -- is not affected by the closure.
Rides can be reserved by calling 517-788-8410. The program is first-come, first-serve and has about 12 vans in the fleet, Cumberworth said.
