A man died after becoming trapped in the machinery of an Irving car wash Friday afternoon, police said.

Authorities were dispatched about 3:40 p.m. to the Wash Masters in the 700 block of West LBJ Freeway, near North MacArthur Boulevard, after a 911 caller reported that a man had been ensnared in the car wash while working around the machine.

Officers applied a tourniquet to the 39-year-old man’s leg and began performing CPR.

The man was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released, pending notification of his next of kin.

Authorities are not conducting a criminal investigation.

“This is a horrible accident,” said Robert Reeves, a police spokesman.
