Three New York men were arrested during two separate traffic stops on the Indiana Toll Road in La Porte County on March 19 and 20, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At about 10:30 a.m. March 19, a deputy stopped an eastbound car that had been speeding and following too close behind anothe vehicle. The

driver, later identified as Nikia Wright, 26, of Buffalo, N.Y., at first gave a false name, police said. The deputy and another who arrived to assist found cause to search the car and discovered cocaine.
Wright was charged with dealing in cocaine, a Level 2 Felony, and was being held in La Porte County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
In the other stop at about 8 a.m. March 20, a deputy stopped a car that had been speeding and swerving. The deputy became suspicious of information that the driver, Leroy Raynor, 40, of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and the passenger, Desmine Williams, 30, of Clay, N.Y., were providing. A K-9 did a free-air sniff of the car and deputies found two guns sitting on the engine under the hood, one a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun and the other an unknown make/model 9mm handgun. Neither had a serial number.
Raynor was charged as a Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm, a Level 4 Felony, and was being held at the La Porte County Jail on a $20,000 cash-only bond. Williams was arrested for Carrying a Handgun without a License, a Class A Misdemeanor. He was being held on a $1,500 cash-only bond.
