Deputies from the UCSO and units from the Jerome Township Fire Department, Pleasant Valley Fire District, and the Concord Township Fire Department responded to the scene and found a 2013 Ford E-450 bus lying on its side.

Emergency personnel on the scene determined that the bus was transporting four adult special needs clients. The occupants were successfully extricated from the bus with apparent minor injuries. Three occupants and the driver were transported to Dublin Methodist Hospital and one occupant was transported to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital for precautionary evaluation.

The preliminary investigation has revealed the bus was driving eastbound on Mitchell-Hewitt Road when it went drove off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected, crossed the center line, travelled into a ditch, and turned sideways causing the bus to roll onto its side.

Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash and all occupants were restrained.

The bus is owned by All R Friends of Westerville, Ohio. The driver of the bus, Sydney G. Phillips, 23, of Hilliard, was issued a traffic citation for failure to control.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
