Indian Lake Schools bus driver Jon E. Blackburn, 61, of Lakeview, was cited for failure to control as a result of a Monday morning crash involving his school bus and a Republic Services garbage truck.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Brandon E. Stoner, 41, of Bellefontaine, was operating the eastbound garbage truck in front of the bus about 7:10 a.m. in the 600 block of Township Road 219. Stoner stopped along the right edge of the road to allow the school bus to pass.

While passing the garbage truck, the bus struck the side of the garbage truck.
Five children ages 6 through 13 were passengers on the bus and they did not report any injuries. Stoner and Blackburn also did not report any injuries. Damage was light to both vehicles.

• Deputies responded to a report of a rear-end collision involving a pickup and an Amish horse and buggy about 10:15 p.m. Sunday on County Road 54.

The operator of the buggy, Amos S. Borntreger, 25, of Lewistown, reported minor injuries, and his passengers, Esther M. Borntreger, 23, and a 3-year-old boy each reported possible injuries, but no one was transported from the scene.

Deputies report Zachary A. Pyles, 38, of Zanesfield, was operating a westbound pickup near Township Road 215 and struck the rear of the westbound buggy. The buggy continued off the north side of the road and came to rest on its side in a field. The three buggy occupants reportedly were ejected from the buggy.

Pyles continued westbound, but then returned to the scene. He did not report any injuries, and was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead. He was wearing his seat belt.

Damage was heavy to the buggy and moderate to the pickup.

• Deputies also responded to a rollover crash about 6 p.m. Monday at the U.S. Route 33 entrance ramp from U.S. Route 68.

Sierra M. Shepard, 35, of Lakeview, reportedly was entering U.S. 33 westbound when she lost control of her pickup and the rear end spun out, causing the vehicle to go off the right side of the road into the ditch. The vehicle then struck a guardrail and overturned twice.

Shepard declined medical treatment. No citations have been issued thus far, and investigation continues. Her pickup was towed from the scene.
