BROOKFIELD — An investigation is underway to determine what caused a bus-converted motor home to catch fire in the parking lot of the town’s congregational church on Thursday.
Volunteer firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire outside the Congregational Church of Brookfield on Whisconier Road around 4:40 p.m.
First responders found fire and smoke coming from the front passenger side wheel of a large white bus in the parking lot and quickly extinguished the flames.
After putting out the fire, crews spent about two hours searching for hidden fire extension inside the bus, which had been converted into a motor home and had “extensive woodwork” throughout it, according to the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company.
There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brookfield Fire Marshal’s Office.
