A car erupted into flames after the driver left the road and crashed into a tree and home in Franklin Township, Warren County, according to a witness at the scene.
The crash involving the driver of a Chevy Cruze happened shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Asbury Broadway Road. The witness reported the car appeared to have been traveling south along Asbury Broadway Road when the vehicle left the roadway.
Firefighters extinguished the flames. There were no reported injuries to anyone inside the home at the time of the accident. The driver was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services, the witness said.
Asbury Broadway Road was reduced to one lane and the southbound lane was shut down with traffic being alternated into the northbound lane as authorities investigated. The scene was cleared by 10:25 a.m. Sunday.
Responding to the accident were troopers with the New Jersey State Police, Washington station, the Franklin Township Fire Dept. and Franklin Township Emergency Medical Services Division, as well as paramedics from Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township.
It’s unclear what led to Sunday’s accident. A sergeant who answered the phone at the New Jersey State Police’s Washington staton did not immediately have information. A public information officer for the New Jersey State Police in Trenton did not immediately return a request for information.
