A 13-year-old girl told police that a middle-aged couple accosted her Saturday afternoon while she waited in her family car in the parking lot of the Walmart Superstore, 1540 Military Road, Niagara Falls police reported.
The girl's mother went into the store around 12:45 p.m., leaving the girl and the family dog in the car, police said. A short time later, a man with dyed brown/blonde hair and missing teeth came up to the vehicle and tried to make small talk with the girl. She told police that the man, whom she described as wearing ragged clothing, tried to talk her into letting her dog out so it could "meet his dog."
While this went on, a woman with long blonde hair and ragged dress joined the conversation, insisting that the dog be let out. The girl told police that both tried to open her car doors, even reaching inside to try and unlock them. When she threatened to call 911, both retreated to a nearby silver or gray minivan and left.
