SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio
Theft from motor vehicle: Chagrin Boulevard
At 3:10 p.m. June 14, a Willoughby Hills woman, 71, reported that someone had stolen her purse while her unlocked car was parked in the lot of Walgreen’s, 16400 Chagrin Blvd. Inside the purse were her cell phone, gift cards and about $1,000 in cash.
Felonious assault: Sutton Place
At 5:35 p.m. June 19, police were called to Sutton Place and Milverton Road, where a Cleveland man, 29, reported that another Cleveland man, 43, had shot a gun at him.
Police recovered a spent bullet casing and, on the older man, a partially loaded magazine. The 43-year-old was arrested. No one was injured. The police are continuing to investigate.
Assault: Scottsdale Boulevard
At 12:20 p.m. June 19, a Shaker Heights woman, 22, reported that a Shaker Heights man, 29, had kicked her while the two stood outside an apartment building at 16510 Scottsdale Blvd.
Criminal damaging: Fairhill Road
At 12:40 a.m. June 20, police were called to a Fairhill Road residence, where a Maple Heights man, 27, reported that a Cleveland woman, 26, had used an unknown object to break a window on his car. There were no reported injuries.
OVI: Scottsdale Boulevard
At 11:20 p.m. June 21, officers checked on a car that was parked, with its engine running, at Scottsdale Boulevard and Rolliston Road. The driver was an intoxicated Cleveland man, 29. Inside the car, police found a firearm and an open container of an alcoholic beverage.
The man was found to have a blood-alcohol content of .141, above the state minimum for drunk driving of .08. Police arrested the man and charged him with OVI and having a weapon while under disability.
OVI: Strathavon Road
At 8:45 p.m. June 22, an officer saw a car drive through a stop sign at Strathavon and Avalon roads. A traffic stop was conducted and it was found that the driver, a Shaker Heights man, 58, was intoxicated.
Inside the car was an open container of an alcoholic beverage. The man was found to have a blood-alcohol content of .225. Police charged the man with OVI.
Improper discharge of a firearm: Pennington Road
At 10 p.m. June 22, police were called to a residence to investigate a report of shots being fired. The resident, a woman, 43, told officers that she had been awoken by the sound of what she thought were fireworks. She later learned that someone had fired bullets into her home. There are no known suspects. Police are investigating.
