OTTAWA COUNTY, MI -- A 14-year-old boy was injured Friday, June 26 when a car hydroplaned in heavy rain along a Hudsonville area road and struck a tree.
The crash happened about 8:05 p.m. on 32nd Avenue south of Riley Street.
Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said a Dorr teen, age 16, was driving a 2004 Mazda south on 32nd Avenue when he lost control in a heavy downpour. The car hydroplaned, left the road and struck a tree about 40 feet off the road.
The 14-year-old, a passenger, was taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening.
