WORCESTER -- The Worcester Regional Transit Authority changed boarding procedures for all riders Monday in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, all passengers will board buses from the front door and exit through the rear door. In addition, certain seats have been closed to encourage social distancing, according to a notice posted on the transit authority's website.

Fare collection also remains suspended, and passengers are required to wear a face mask.

The changes are the latest policies to adapt in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

At the end of March, the bus system suspended fare collection and allowed rear-door boarding to better accommodate social distancing among passengers and employees.

The bus system also erected plastic shields to protect drivers.
