An 11-year-old boy struck by a car while riding his bike was transported by a medical helicopter to a Boston hospital Sunday afternoon, according to the Amesbury fire chief.
At about 4:35 p.m., Amesbury police and fire responded to the area of Oakland and Chestnut Streets for a report of a pedestrian who was struck.
Upon arrival, first responders determined that an 11-year-old boy was struck while riding his bike.
The boy was taken by a medical helicopter to a Boston hospital with serious injuries. The driver remained on scene and was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation by the Amesbury Police Department.
