After telling a Fresno shutdown code enforcement officer that "somebody should put a bullet in your brain" in a Target parking lot, a salon owner hit him with her car, reports the Fresno Bee.
The woman was reportedly upset after being served two coronavirus shutdown notices.
“F— you. F— Mayor Brand. F— Newsom. F— you all. Find something better to do. I hope you all die. Somebody should put a bullet in your brain,” the woman shouted, per an email from a police officer obtained by the Bee.
The email indicated that two code enforcement officers were responding to complaints last Friday about businesses violating state coronavirus orders when they stopped just before 11 a.m. at the Target on Bullard and Blackstone avenues in Fresno.
When one of the officers returned to his vehicle, a woman in the parking lot began yelling profanities at him, to which the code enforcement officer reportedly waved at her and responded, “Keep it classy.”
According to the police incident report, when the officer took out his phone and stepped behind the woman’s car to take a photo of her license plate, she put her car in reverse and hit him. He was not seriously injured, reports the Bee.
The woman initially denied hitting the officer but later "apologized profusely" when speaking with police, the email says. She was not arrested.
After months of shutdown, hair salons briefly reopened in Fresno County in June until Governor Gavin Newsom walked back the reopenings in response to a surge in coronavirus infections.
The code enforcement officer later recognized the woman as the owner of an unnamed salon previously given two notices by code enforcement.
Sgt. Jeff LaBlue, the Fresno police public information officer, told the Bee the case will be sent to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office for possible assault charges.
