KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Police Department says one suspect was taken into custody late Saturday night after a vehicle was stolen with a 10-year-old girl in the backseat.
According to KPD, a white four-door 2008 Mazda 6 was stolen from Parkwest Blvd. Saturday with a 10-year-old girl in the backseat. The car has a blue front bumper and Tennessee tags 9T6-1C2.
A spokesperson with the police department says the vehicle was located in Oak Ridge around 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, but the child was still missing.
The 10-year-old is described as a white female with long brown hair, white shirt and purple shorts. According to KPD, multiple agencies were investigating along with K-9′s and air support.
Officials with the department said the child was safely found just before midnight on Saturday and one male suspect was taken into custody.
“Thank you to all who shared this important information so quickly and to the multiple agencies who assisted this evening,” a spokesperson with KPD said.
