Classic Car Cruise and Show to be held in Wild Rose this weekend - Waushara Argus

Local businesses, organ-izations, and individuals have decorated Main Street in Wild Rose to help welcome the thirteenth annual Wild Rose Classic Car Show to the Roseville Shops this Saturday, Sept. 19.

The show will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with registration from 8 a.m. to noon.  All vehicles can enter regardless of age, and two trophies will be awarded in each of 26 vehicle classes plus one Best in Show trophy.

There is a registration fee for each vehicle entering the show grounds.  Spectators are free and food will be served during the day.

On Friday, Sept. 18, a classic car cruise through Waushara County will start at 6 p.m. from the Wild Rose Elementary School parking lot at the east end of Euclid Avenue.  The cruise will be led by this year’s feature vehicle which is a 1966 Ford Mustang convertible owned by Bryen and Debbie Edwards, Wild Rose.  In the past, many spectators have lined up on the cruise route to see the vintage vehicles passing by and to encourage participants to toot their horns.

The primary goal of the cruise experience is to have fun, of course, but to also provide a safe event for everyone.  The car show organizers have asked that spectators viewing the passing parade keep a safe distance from the vehicles going by and to not stand on the roadways.

Police and fire department personnel will protect the intersections that are involved and hold up the traffic as necessary to allow the cruise to pass.  If those protecting the intersections are called away due to an emergency, cruise participants should use good judgment and caution when approaching and negotiating unprotected intersections.

The cruise will leave the school parking lot and head briefly west on Euclid Avenue and then turn south onto High Street where it will pass Rosemore where the residents have always enthusiastically greeted the cruise participants.  The cruise will then turn left (east) on County Road GH.  The cars will continue eastbound on County Road GH and County Road H past Little Silver Lake and Parker’s Resort continuing on to Archer Lane with Wilson Lake on the left and Kusel Lake on the right.  It will then pass Evergreen Campsites and Resort at about 6:15 p.m.

The cars will continue eastbound a short distance, turning left (north) on 24th Avenue, passing Oakwood Campsite and then turning right (east) onto County Road A.  They will then travel eastbound and will turn right (southeast) onto Portage Road.  The cruise will then turn left (north) onto 24th Lane and pass through the Springwater Volunteer Covered Bridge.

Everyone will continue northbound on 24th Lane (crossing County Road A) until they reach Apache Avenue where there will be a left turn (heading west) and continue on Apache Avenue and Apache Road westbound until they reach 19th Road where the cruise will turn left (south) back to County Road A where there will be a right turn (westbound) back toward Wild Rose.

Just before reaching Highway 22, the cruise will be directed to turn onto Summit Street (southbound) for two blocks, then turning right (west) onto Maple Avenue where the cruise will get back to Highway 22.

The classic car cruise will return to Wild Rose at approximately 6:45 p.m. for a fun evening in the downtown with a free street dance and live music.
