Criminal damaging: Bainbridge Road
At 8:50 a.m. Sept. 15, a witness reported seeing a man damaging a car in the Cleveland Clinic parking lot, 29800 Bainbridge Road. The car belonged to a nurse.
It was later found that the man, 32, of Cleveland, is the fiance of the nurse, 27, of Bedford Heights. The couple had been involved in a prior domestic situation, prompting the man to damage the car.
A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest on a charge of criminal damaging.
Theft: S.O.M. Center Road
At 2:40 p.m. Sept. 10, loss prevention at Marc’s, 6231 S.O.M. Center Road, notified police that employees were stealing from the store. The employees, all juveniles, are accused of activating $150 in Xbox gift cards. Police have sent a report of the incident to juvenile court for review.
Improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle: Enterprise Parkway
At 11:45 p.m. Sept. 11, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a car that had only one working headlight. Three people were in the car. The driver, a Cleveland man, 18, was cited for driving without a license.
The car’s front seat passenger, a boy, 17, was found to be in possession of a gun. The boy faces charges of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property. Police sent a report of the case to juvenile court for review.
Drug possession: Aurora Road
At 10:45 p.m. Sept. 10, an officer stopped a car for its illegal window tint. It was subsequently found that the driver, a Cleveland woman, 39, was in possession of a white powder, which was sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for testing.
The woman was cited for the window tint; drug charges are pending.
Warrant arrest: Aurora Road
At 1:10 p.m. Sept. 11, an officer stopped a driver for failure to use a turn signal when changing lanes. It was then discovered that the driver, a Cleveland woman, 26, had a suspended driver’s license and was wanted on traffic warrants issued by police in Maple Heights and Shaker Heights.
The woman was cited for the traffic offense and arrested on the warrants.
Violation of a temporary protection order: S.O.M. Center Road
At 8:10 a.m. Sept. 11, a Solon man, 36, was arrested for violating a temporary protection order protecting the 29-year-old mother of his child.
Theft: Aurora Road
At 3:50 p.m. Sept. 11, police were called to Giant Eagle Market District, 34310 Aurora Road, where a theft was in progress.
When police arrived, the suspect, a Bedford Heights woman, 57, was driving away from the store. Police stopped the car and arrested the woman for the theft of groceries valued at $203.98. The woman was further cited for driving with a suspended license.
OVI: Cochran Road
At 10:45 p.m. Sept. 11, an officer stopped a car for speeding. It was subsequently found that the driver, a Cleveland Heights man, 31, was intoxicated. The man had a blood-alcohol content of .291, above the state minimum for drunken driving of .08.
The man was charged with OVI, having a BAC greater than .17, and having an open container of alcohol in his car. He was also cited for speeding.
Improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle: S.O.M. Center Road
At 10:50 p.m. Sept. 13, an officer stopped a car that had no license plates. The driver, a Solon man, 74, was also found to be in possession of a gun. The man was cited for the license plate violation and charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Carrying a concealed weapon: Aurora Road
At 1:15 a.m. Sept. 12, officers investigated when seeing two occupied cars parked behind a closed business. Inside the cars were a Northfield woman, 19, and two 18-year-old men, from Akron and Hudson. The woman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, while the men were both charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
Improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle: Cochran Road
At 9:45 a.m. Sept. 13, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a speeding car. They then learned that the driver, a Cleveland man, 21, was in possession of a gun. The man was cited for speeding and charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Receiving stolen property: Liberty Road
At 12:50 p.m. Sept. 13, an officer stopped a car that was showing a suspected stolen license plate, although it was later made known that Cleveland police had mistakenly listed the plate as stolen. During the traffic stop, police smelled the odor of marijuana inside the car.
It was then found that the driver, a Cleveland man, 26, was in possession of two handguns. One of the guns had been stolen from a Cleveland address. The man is a convicted felon.
Police charged the man with receiving stolen property, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and having a weapon under disability.
OVI: Richmond Road
At 10:10 p.m. Sept. 13, police investigated a two-vehicle crash and learned that one of the involved drivers, an Oakwood woman, 28, was intoxicated. The woman’s blood-alcohol content was found to be .087.
The woman was charged with OVI, having a BAC greater than .08, and driving with a suspended license.
Auto theft: Winston Lane
At 3:40 a.m. Sept. 13, it was reported that two cars were stolen from a resident’s driveway. Keys had been left in both of the cars.
OVI: S.O.M. Center Road
At 1:35 a.m. Sept. 15, an officer stopped a car for speeding and found that the driver, a South Euclid man, 63, was intoxicated. The man had a BAC of .80. Police charged the man with OVI, a marked-lanes violation, not wearing a safety belt and speeding.
