Theft from auto: Glen Oval

On Aug. 23, police were dispatched to Glen Oval after a neighbor called to say that a car alarm was going off. The caller said they saw a man enter the vehicle.

An arriving officer located the suspect. The Parma Heights resident had used a baseball hat to break the window on the victim’s vehicle. He was arrested for misdemeanor theft, possession of criminal tools, criminal damage and criminal trespass.

Drunken driving: West 130th Street:

On Aug. 23, police located a running vehicle in a bar parking lot. The driver was sleeping. After waking up the Parma Heights man, the officer smelled booze. The man then failed a sobriety test and was arrested for drunken driving. The vehicle was towed.

Theft: York Road

On Aug. 24, police were dispatched to a York Road residence after a homeowner reported that they had received only partial payment for items they had sold to a buyer, who now disputes the agreed-upon price.

The officer referred the case to the city prosecutor to determine if this is civil or criminal in nature.

Theft from auto: Greenleaf Avenue

On Aug. 25, a Greenleaf Avenue resident made a startling find when he discovered that someone had stolen personal items from his vehicle, which may have been unlocked. There are no suspects. Police are investigating.

Animal at large: Orchard Boulevard

On Aug. 25, police were dispatched to an Orchard Boulevard residence after a homeowner said he was walking his dog when it was attacked by another canine, which had tags from another county. His dog was not injured. The animal control officer is investigating the incident.

Drug abuse: Pearl Road

On Aug. 25, police observed a vehicle without headlights on Pearl Road. Prior to talking to the Cleveland Heights driver, the officer observed the man attempting to destroy suspected felony drugs. The driver was cited for drug abuse and driving without headlights.

Egged: York Road

On Aug. 27, police were dispatched to the Valley York Apartments after residents reported that numerous vehicles had been egged while in the York Road parking lot. There are no suspects; however, the victims felt the suspect threw the eggs from the roof. Police are investigating.
