ORANGE, Ohio

Disturbance: Emery Road

A caller reported around 10 a.m. on Sept. 14 that a man and woman were arguing from their cars when she got out and started beating his car -- possibly a Chrysler 300 -- with a baseball bat. She then got back into her car and the two drove off separately and in the same direction, heading west on Miles Road from Lander.

Neighboring departments were notified and the cars were pulled over by North Randall police about 10 minutes later at Northfield Road. An officer spoke with both parties -- the man had a protection order in effect against him, but not necessarily involving this woman -- and neither wanted to press charges, so they were released.

Assist (general): Salt Lake Circle

A caller who just built a house in the new development reported Sept. 12 that he saw no trespassing signs on his property from a neighbor on Brainard Road.

The new homeowner expressed concerns about his safety since one of the signs said “You’re Within Range” and had a rifle pictured on it. No further details were immediately available.

Dead body found: Park Avenue

There were no immediate signs of foul play when police responded to the 4th & Park apartments around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 on a report of a woman, 32, found dead in her bedroom from an apparent drug overdose.

A relative, who had last been in contact with her the night before around 8, stopped in to check on her and found her unresponsive, her body near a plate with a straw and white residue inside it. Police also found unknown white pills, with the scene and investigation soon turned over to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.

Trespassing: Park Ave

On Sept. 14 just after midnight, police responded to a group of people in Central Park who were warned about trespassing, playing music without headphones and holding a photo shoot without a permit. They were all given a copy of the Pinecrest development’s code of conduct and further advised about potential violations.

Disturbance: Park Avenue

Police responded to the Silverspot Cinema around 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 for a report of about 10 juveniles fighting in the hall. Police learned that half of them had already left in a car and the ones who said they were jumped refused any help from officers.

Warrants served: Lander Road

Cleveland police reported around 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 12, that they had a man in custody with outstanding warrants from Orange for failure to appear in court on charges of driving under suspension, no headlights, open container of alcohol and aggravated menacing.

The Cleveland man, 34, had told police there that he was having trouble breathing and was positive for COVID-19. He was taken to St. Vincent Charity Medical Center for an evaluation by a doctor who cleared him for the Bedford Heights Jail, where he posted $1,150 bond, was given a new court date and released.

Disturbance, unwanted guest: Park Avenue

Police responded to the REI Co-Op shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 for a report of a customer who refused to wear a mask upon entering the store.
