A 40-year-old man died Wednesday after being struck in his own yard in Sherborn by a car operated by a driver who authorities say was under the influence.
The driver, a 37-year-old Mansfield man, was arrested and is expected to be charged with operating under the influence and additional offenses in connection with the fatal crash, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office said in a statement.
The crash was reported on Goulding Street shortly before 4:45 p.m., according to the statement.
The operator, who was driving an Acura MDX, is accused of hitting the 40-year-old Sherborn man in the yard of his home. The driver also struck another car, the statement said.
First responders took the driver to the hospital, according to Ryan’s office. Officials did not disclose whether he was injured.
"Responding officers allegedly observed signs of impairment and placed the driver under arrest,” the district attorney said.
Authorities did not specify whether the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the time of the crash.
