SAN JOSE – A firefighter suffered minor injuries in a one-alarm fire at a San Jose car dealership Monday night, authorities said.

The fire was reported at the San Jose Auto Outlet at 1199 South First Street about 7:05 p.m., said Capt. Brad Cloutier of the San Jose Fire Department. Firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke coming from a single-story office building on the property.

Employees told firefighters someone came to the front door to tell them there was a fire in the alley behind the dealership, Cloutier said. When they went to the rear of the building to investigate, the windows exploded and flames snaked into the structure.

Cloutier said the building sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage, but no vehicles were affected.

A firefighter was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and later released. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
