OCALA, Fla.–An armed man stole an off-duty Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper’s car on Tuesday, after rear-ending him at a light.
The FHP trooper was stopped at a red light when he was rear-ended at a low speed, according to officials. When he got out of his car to check for damage, convicted felon Morris Eliott Moore pointed a gun at him.
Moore then stole the FHP trooper’s watch, cell phone, wallet, and the
2021 Chevrolet Camaro he was driving. Inside Moore’s car, a woman hopped in the driver’s seat to follow the stolen car.OnStar was able to figure out where the carjacker was heading, notifying multiple law enforcement agencies, one of which was the air unit with

Authorities attempted to pull Moore over, leading to a chase that continued into Orange County.
OnStar was able to disable the car so Moore took off on foot before launching himself into a nearby pond. With the help of K-9’s, officials found the carjacker hiding under a dock.
According to the Ocala Police Department, Morris is on probation for armed burglary. He was arrested on Tuesday for armed carjacking, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The woman who followed Moore after the carjacking has not been found.
