UPDATE (5:20 p.m.) Peoria County Sheriff’s Office reopens all traffic lanes on Route 29.
UPDATE (4:50 p.m.) – Peoria County Sheriff’s Police expect to reopen the north and southbound lanes of Route 29 between Rome and Chillicothe early Monday evening after a two-car crash.
The accident happened about 3 p.m. near Three Sisters Park with four people going to the hospital. Police said an occupant of one of the vehicles was taken by Life Flight helicopter to a local hospital. An ambulance transported a second person in that car to the hospital. Their conditions were not available.
Police said two occupants of the other car were also taken to the hospital, but they did not suffer serious injuries.
PEORIA COUNTY (Heart of Illinois ABC) – A portion of Route 29 between Rome and Chillicothe was closed in both directions Monday afternoon because of a traffic accident.
No details were immediately available about the crash that happened about 3 p.m. at Route 29 and Washington Street.
Peoria County Sheriff’s Police closed the north and southbound lanes. There was no word when police might reopen Route 29.
