JJ's CAR DISQUALIFIED FROM SECOND-PLACE FINISH

Jimmy Johnson’s number-48 car failed its post-race inspection and was disqualified from its second-place finish in Sunday’s Coca Cola 600, relegating it instead to 40th.  NASCAR Cup Series managing director Jay Fabian said it was the rear alignment that failed the Optical Scanning Station inspection.  Hendrick Motorsports can appeal.

Three of Denny Hamlin’s crew members have been suspended for four races because a piece of tungsten fell off his car on the pace lap before Sunday’s run.  The tungsten is necessary to meet minimum weight requirements on the car. If it is separated at any point it is an automatic four-race suspension for the crew chief, car chief and engineer. Hamlin finished 29th in Sunday’s race after winning last Wednesday night at Darlington.

Kyle Busch passed Austin Cindric on the final lap of overtime to win the Xfinity Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway last night.  The race was the second in four days at Charlotte, which will host another Cup Series event without spectators on Wednesday night.
