Trans-Bridge Lines will restart bus service Monday with limited routes, after shutting down during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Modified schedules can be found on the company’s website at transbridgelines.com. The company said changes will made as Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York continue their phased reopenings.
Buses will be limited to 25 passengers, which the company said was due to Pennsylvania regulations on social gatherings and New Jersey restrictions on transit capacity.
“Operating at this limited capacity is not something that is sustainable but a directive we must follow in order to offer service,” Tom JeBran, president of Trans-Bridge, said in a news release.
Face masks will be required, including while riding on buses, and passengers should bring their own masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, wipes and any other supplies. Disinfectant wipes will be provided, while supplies are available.
The first four seats of the bus should remain empty and passengers should only sit in window seats, throw away trash in provided receptacles and exit the bus from front to back.
The bus company said it has upgraded cabin air filters and is using total motorcoach sanitizing fogging and wipe-downs of ten critical touchpoints during layovers. The touchpoints include handrails, door latches, window release bars, the driver’s area and restroom surfaces.
“Individuals also need to understand that COVID-19 is an extremely contagious virus and there is an inherent risk of exposure in any public place where people are gathered. By traveling, you assume that risk,” JeBran said in the release.
Trans-Bridge laid off 119 employees as the motorcoach industry was decimated by stay-at-home orders and business shutdowns during the pandemic. Officials estimated nearly 36,000 buses were parked and about 90% of the workforce laid off or furloughed.
