She was donated by Bruce La Valley, and was restored by the auto students at Lake Superior College. Upgrades include full disassembly, full repaint, carpet dying, rim cleanup, two-tone and pinstriping, and weatherstripping cleanup.

"I called NASCAR and said, "can I take this car and make it a replica?"" says Pat Ringold, owner of Benna Ford. "They said get it as close as you can, but don't put the number on the door. Because this is the exact looking car that was racing in 1976 for the Chevy teams."

The car is up for action right now on Benna Ford's website, and there will be a live auction Wednesday, July 15 at 5:30 p.m., at Benna Ford's Superior location. The current bid sits at around $5,000, but Ringold hopes to bring in more money. All of which will be donated to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 56, to support wounded combat veterans in Northern Minnesota.

"Whether you believe in war or don't believe in war, put that aside," says Ringold. "All these men & women went overseas to protect us. They volunteered and they got wounded. And that's why we've got the freedom we've got."
