SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CSBLA) — Police are investigating after a woman’s body was found in a car in South Los Angeles Wednesday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the body was found at about 12:30 p.m. in the back seat of the victim’s 2003 silver Mercedes-Benz parked in the 1800 block of West 95th Place.
Family identified the woman as 23-year-old Mikeona Johnson, a mother of two who has been missing for the past week.
“My mom gotta bury her daughter,” Allisha Tillman, Johnson’s sister, said. “I gotta bury my sister, and somebody knows something.”
The car was found just blocks away from where Johnson lived.
“The car wasn’t there, and all of the sudden the car was there,” Kashe Amos, Johnson’s cousin, said. “Me and her sister have been out here every day looking for her, and somehow her car ended up on this street that we done been down every day.”
Family members said they believe Johnson’s partner and father of her 1-year-old daughter was the last person to see her alive.
“She was innocent,” Tillman said. “She don’t do nothing. That girl go to school, take care of her kids, make sure her kids is OK.”
Tillman said her sister was sweet, taking online classes and was focused on being the best mom she could be to her children.
“She always was good to people, she did everything she can for people, and I don’t know why anybody would do this to her,” Amos said. “She mind her own business, she don’t be in no drama or nothing.”
The Los Angeles Police Department said it was investigating the death as a homicide, though officers would not say whether there was a suspect at this time.
Anyone with information was asked to call the department’s anonymous tip line at 1-800-222-TIPS.
